San Jose Plant To Close

I found this out on the QT last week but was sworn to secrecy. I'm not surprised the plant is closing and the 40 acre property is on the market. The building is almost 50 years old and is old. In our heyday the place was full of employees, but for a while the second and third floors have been empty. And the ground floor isn't all that busy either.
I'm not losing my job, in fact the company is honoring our contract and will continue to use Teamster labor to haul the product. At least until our contract expires in 2014 or 15, I can't exactly recall.
Our production is moving to Hayward and Concord. We currently print 10 different editions at the San Jose plant and none of them are folding.
The press people are not coming with us, they're getting laid off. Same with the mailroom, machinists, electricians and facilities. All not needed any more.
Our fleet is moving to the Arden inserting plant in Hayward. The Wall Street's truck is going to Concord, and that will shorten up my commute if I stay on the job for a while.
When I got to work last night, the bosses were all there.  I asked how much my buyout was going to be and when was I getting it. They let me down gently, no buyout is planned. Damn, I'd take one in a Kansas City minute.
Can't wait to retire and be done with all this nonsense.
